Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
The Day Vault is a daily email newsletter published by Coriolan Ventures LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to thedayvault.com and to the emails we send.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you subscribe.
- The subjects you choose, so we can send you the categories you asked for.
- How you found us — campaign parameters in the link you clicked (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) and the website that referred you.
- Email engagement — whether a message was opened and which links were clicked.
- Technical data collected automatically when you load the site: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, and the pages you viewed.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, mailing address, or payment details. The newsletter is free and there is nothing to buy.
Why we use it
- To send you the newsletter you signed up for, in the categories you selected.
- To measure which advertising campaigns bring us readers, so we spend our budget sensibly.
- To understand which stories people read, so we write better ones.
- To keep the service secure and to prevent abuse, fake signups, and spam.
- To comply with the law.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers. They process your data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- beehiiv — stores our subscriber list and delivers the newsletter.
- Amazon Web Services — hosts this website and our signup endpoint.
- Google and Meta — advertising and measurement. When we run ads, these providers may set cookies or receive events (such as "a signup happened") so we can measure campaign performance and reach similar audiences. We do not send them the content of your email.
Advertising in the newsletter
The newsletter contains advertising and affiliate links. Advertisers are told how many people are on the list and which subject categories exist — they are not given your email address. If you click a link to an advertiser or merchant, that company's own privacy policy governs what happens next.
We do not sell or rent your email address. We do not share it with other newsletters, list brokers, or data buyers.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses the minimum storage needed to work, plus advertising and measurement tags from the providers named above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the signup form will still work. Our emails contain a tracking pixel that records opens — turning off remote images in your email client prevents it.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. It takes one click and we do not ask why.
- Change your subjects any time from the "manage preferences" link in any email.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. If you live in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another state with a comparable law, you have similar rights. Use the same contact address and we will handle your request the same way.
Retention
We keep your email address and preferences for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record of your address so that we do not accidentally email you again — that is the only reason we retain it. Website and campaign logs are kept for up to 24 months.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Our subscriber data is held by beehiiv under their security controls, and our credentials are stored encrypted in AWS Secrets Manager and never exposed to your browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not hold payment data or government identifiers, so there is very little about you for anyone to take.
Children
This newsletter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to us and we will delete the record.
Where your data is handled
We operate in the United States and our service providers process data in the United States. If you subscribe from outside the US, you are asking us to send mail to you there, and your information will be handled in the US.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so in the newsletter.
